In 2008, I wanted to MAKE an anniversary gift for my wife. I decided to take pottery wheel lessons from a local "buy-n-glaze" shop. After 5 lessons, I had my handmade gift for my wife, and a teacher who pestered me for months to get my own wheel. I totally never expected to be making pottery, but have found it so refreshing and rewarding. I believe God planned all of this, so I named the business "Yatzar" - a Hebrew word meaning 'to create.' "Yatzar" is the word used in the Bible when God creates Adam & Eve from the dust/clay. It expresses the idea of creating something from existing, common materials, and assigning additional purpose. So, every Yatzar piece is named, as a reminder of who we are as human beings, and as a thank you to God for teaching me this craft. May your experience with Yatzar pottery pieces be enjoyable, and always remind you that YOU were formed with purpose and are loved by your creator. Thank you for your support!
